Since its inception in 2008, China Health Policy and Management Society (CHPAMS) has been propelled by many volunteers who worked diligently to advance CHPAMS’s missions. In less than 12 years, CHPAMS has grown from a “sprout” with a dozen or so funding members in 2008, to a healthy grown tree with over 2200 members in five different continents and global recognition in public health research and practice, which is a huge accomplishment made possible by hundreds of wonderful volunteers. Therefore, we grant the Volunteer of the Year Award each year to a volunteer for his/her significant contributions to the organization.
We are delighted to announce the winner of CHPAMS 2019 Volunteer of the Year Award, Dr. Di LIANG. Di is currently an assistant professor at Fudan University, School of Public Health. In 2017-2019, she was a postdoctoral scholar at University of California San Diego, School of Medicine. Di received her Ph.D. in Health Policy and Management from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), School of Public Health. Prior to that, she received Bachelor of Medicine in Preventive Medicine from Fudan University School of Public Health.
Di has been volunteering for CHPAMS since 2016 when she was a PhD student at UCLA. She was an editor for CHPAMS’s monthly newsletter from October 2016 to October 2019. She has also been serving as an editor for CHPAMS WeChat public channel from 2016 to present. She wrote three articles for the Wechat public channel, which focused on China's two-child policy, private hospitals, and payment reform, respectively. She edited multiple articles and announcements for the Wechat public account. In addition, she volunteered for CHPAMS biannual conferences. Even though Di is now an assistant professor, she continues to dedicate her time and efforts for CHPAMS. Most recently in May 2020, she rose to the call and served as a technical host for the first two webinars in CHPAMS’s successful Career Fair series. Dr. Di Liang truly exemplifies the dedication, service, and professionalism that CHPAMS has received from many volunteers and was unanimously chosen as the 2019 Volunteer of the Year.
Congratulations, Di!
