ANNOUNCEMENT ON CHPAMS 2017 INSPIRATION AWARD

CHPAMS established the Inspiration Award in August 2016 to recognize members’ extraordinary determination to challenge the “status quo”, overcome significant barriers and achieve accomplishments in scientific research, community service, or innovative activities that are above and beyond the expectation. The 2016 Inspiration Award was granted to Dr. Youfa Wang, the founding Dean of the Xi’an Jiaotong University Global Health Institute, Associate Director of the Fisher Institute, John and Janice Fisher Endowed Chair in Wellness, and Professor of Nutrition and Health Science, Ball State University.

In October 2017, CHPAMS started the nomination process for the 2017 Inspirational Award. A five-member Award Selection Committee was formed, made up of CHPAMS President Dr. Zhuo (Adam) Chen and four distinguished researchers. We received highly qualified nominations for the Award.  After deliberation, the Committee agreed that the nominees, although strong candidates, fell short of meeting the high expectation for the distinguished Inspiration Award. Therefore, the Committee regretfully chose not to select an awardee for the 2017 CHPAMS Inspiration Award.

We thank all nominations and participations and look forward to receiving and evaluating future submissions in the coming years.

2016 Board of Directors Nomination is Open

The term of the current board of directors will expire on June 30, 2016. Therefore, we will start the nomination and election process based on the bylaws. Please see the enclosed nomination forms and instructions. Note that only the members who registered on chpams.org can be nominated, endorse and vote for the candidates. Definitely you are one of them!

I'm so honored and humble to serve this wonderful organization in the last two years. It is the best non-profit organization I've ever volunteered on and the experience is terrific! My board of directors contributed significant efforts to make critical decisions that move the organization forward; so many volunteers work behind the scenes to contribute everything they can contribute to this organization. Making so many new friends and learning so much from them!

I've already informed the board that I will step down as the President after June 30. I believe newly elected leadership can develop more potentials from this great organization. I really appreciate all your support in the past two years and hope you can support the new leadership as you support me.

We encourage more members with the leadership skills and potentials to step up and serve on the board. One of the important missions for CHPAMS is to provide leadership training to our members so they can develop well in their own careers. The board has appointed me, Adam Chen, and Roman Xu, as the nomination committee. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact any of us.

Chinese New Year is just around the corner and best wishes for you and your family to have a wonderful Year of Monkey!

Go CHPAMS!
